What do I do if I received a subpoena but I can't go?

Answered by attorney Kevin Marc Habberfield (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Black, Lyle & Habberfield, LLP
Call whoever subpoenaed you and explain your situation. They may be willing to have you testify at a time and place convenient for you. If not, unfortunately, you better go. Most attorney's will work with you on things like this. Also, they may be willing to videotape your testimony (if this is for trial) to be played to the jury later. You've got options, be nice and they will work with you.

Can we sue the makers of a tanning lotion after it caused our daughters death? How?

Richard B. Jacobson
Answered by attorney Richard B. Jacobson (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Richard B. Jacobson Associates, LLC
There may be. CONSULT AN EXPERIENCED PERSONAL INJURY LAWYER RIGHT AWAY. There is a cause of action for wrongful death. But if the matter went to trial, you would have to have at least one medical expert to testify that something identifiable in the lotion was the direct, proximate, foreseeable, cause of your daughter's death. The lawyer will need to see the autopsy report, and any other relevant medical papers. I am awfully sorry for your loss. I hope all goes well for you from now on. Keep in mind there is a statute of limitations for such legal actions, generally three years.

How long after an accident do I have to sue?

Answered by attorney Andrew Daniel Myers (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Offices of Andrew D. Myers
The Statute of Limitations in New Hampshire is 3 years. However, with respect to various insurance benefits there are short notice provisions. Also, if you seek benefits such as medical payments or uninsured/underinsured you have a duty of cooperation with your insurance company which includes the duty of prompt notice.
