What are the consequences of a hit and run without any major damages?

David F. Stoddard
Answered by attorney David F. Stoddard (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at The David F. Stoddard Law Firm
You may want to go ahead and hire an attorney. If you cannot afford to hire one, you must represent yourself in this matter. You do not have to meet with the police. If you do not and they have probable cause to arrest you, they will regardless of whether you meet with them. You should not answer any questions. Even if they have evidence your car was involved, they may not have sufficient evidence that you were driving. You have a right to remain silent, and it will not help you to talk to them. You should probably contact the author of the letter and advise him/her that you do not want to meet, but that you will turn yourself in if there is a warrant for your arrest. If you are charged, hit and run usually results in a fine or probation, although you can get jail time.

How can I settle doctors bills after getting a personal injury?

Mark Joseph Leonardo
Answered by attorney Mark Joseph Leonardo (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Dordick Law Corporation
Unless you were a trespasser or uninvited guest on the property where you got bit, the owner of the dog is responsible for your injuries. Many attorneys would take your case on a contingency basis. You should seek the advice of an attorney to make a claim.

Can I be sued if there were no reports filed and no harm done?

Paul L. Whitfield

Anybody can sue you at any time on any account. But you have to prove your case and prove damages. Doesn't sound like much of a lawsuit to me.
