Is it legal to be sued without prior notice of any court dates or paperwork?

Answered by attorney Joel Gary Selik
Personal Injury lawyer at Selik Law Offices
If you have been sued and a default judgment has been entered against you, you can file a motion to set aside the judgment. But you must move quickly, there are short and strict time deadlines.

Can I sue a fast food place for injuries to my mouth after biting down on a piece of hard plastic in a burger?

Answered by attorney Andrew Tyler Velonis (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Andrew T. Velonis, P.C.
Document everything, get a report done by a dentist, report this to the company that owns the store. I assume you reported it to the manager on duty when it happened and that you have what's left of the burger and the piece of plastic that injured you.

Can police stop anyone whenever they want to and search without a warrant?

Answered by attorney Francis John Cowhig (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Francis John Cowhig
The cop would need a valid reason (probable cause) to stop you and a warrant to search your vehicle. You could have declined to give him permission and the search, without a warrant, would have been illegal.
