Hired Attorney

Mitch Gilfillan and Brody Woods represented my husband and I in our lawsuit against the people we purchased our home from in Peoria, IL, who failed to disclose water/foundation damage to the property. In IL, there are requirements when it comes to notifying of damage like this, and they instead hid the damage. We took our evidence, reports, and photos for help in paying for the remedy which cost us over $14,000. We booked a consult with Mitch, and they were honest about our odds of recovering our losses, and we decided to fight. Defendants didnt show, so we were granted a default judgement, then the defendants finally showed 1 week past cutoff to vacate the judgement, and judge sent us to mediation. M&B did an amazing job in negotiating a settlement which we didn't have to wait months of appeal and more atty fees. We are more than happy with the settlement, it means these defendants finally pay for something they did to someone else. I cant say how appreciative we are for M&B. 10/10!!

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
