Ian has helped me through a very long and acrimonious divorce. I respect him for several reasons, he is fair and thinks of the other party, he puts in my place if I need it, his applications, affidavits are kept factual without here say and unnecessary emotion, it is about the children, he gets results.
I had Ian as counsel for several years dealing with custody issues. Ian was always fair. He understands what is best for the child and what is likely to happen in court. With precision, he knew the likely outcome in the courtroom. Time after time he defended me successfully, at trial he knew his case law and handled himself flawlessly. He was quite expensive, but worth every penny.
Ian must be getting tired and/or ready to retire. He was not informative, had no strategies, did not request information unless I asked him to...and even then I wrote most of the letters and emails and he just copied and pasted to my ex-wife's lawyer. All he kept saying was there was nothing he could do as my ex-wife and her lawyer were not cooperating (no kidding that must be rare in a divorce case!). He just wanted to bill and get more retainers and in the end I spent $10K and he wanted $60K to go to court and I will end up representing myself. Completly useless...go somewhere else for advise in penticton!
