With a robust background as a former Philadelphia assistant district attorney, Mr. Shields has accumulated extensive courtroom experience. His tenure in the District Attorney's Office involved handling criminal prosecutions at every stage, from initial investigation to verdict and sentencing. His diverse roles within the Municipal Court, Juvenile, and Charging Units, as well as in the Central Division Bureau, focused on prosecuting major violent crimes and criminal organizations in the Center City Philadelphia and Temple University areas. Mr. Shields actively participated in numerous jury trials and played a pivotal role in negotiating, trying, or resolving thousands of criminal cases.
Prior to his impactful seven-year term as an assistant district attorney, Mr. Shields garnered valuable experience through various legal and political internships. His roles included serving as a congressional intern for former 10-term U.S. Congressman and current Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) Chairman Tim Holden. Additionally, he contributed as a campaign representative for Superior Court candidates and held positions as an administrative assistant and legal intern for the PLCB. During law school, Mr. Shields further honed his skills through internships with the Westmoreland County District Attorney's Office and one of the largest liquor licensing law firms in the country.
