For Matt Tucker, becoming an attorney wasn’t about following a family legacy — it was about finding his own path and answering a calling shaped by real-life experience and a deep desire to help people when they need it most.
Matt grew up around the justice system and small business ownership. His mother, Judy H. Moye, served as a Georgia State Senator for the 34th District and was also a successful entrepreneur throughout the 1990s. She owned and operated JAM Bonding Co., Inc., the Southern Police Dog Academy, and JAM Loan Company, and helped found the Georgia Association of Professional Bondsmen. From an early age, Matt saw what it meant to take responsibility, serve others, and stand firm when people depended on you.
His grandfather, Clyde Wesley Henley, served for more than 11 years as a Superior Court Judge in the DeKalb Judicial Circuit. Known for his strong presence in the courtroom and his deep commitment to the legal system, Judge Henley left a lasting impression on everyone who practiced before him. Being around that environment taught Matt that the law carries real weight — and that decisions made in a courtroom can change lives forever.
Even with that background, Matt didn’t rush into law. He first gained hands-on experience working within the justice system as a probation officer, where he saw the real-life consequences of legal decisions and the challenges people face when trying to rebuild their lives.
He attended the University of Georgia and went into business and marketing, where Coors hired him for a role in sales. His performance and work ethic quickly stood out, leading to an opportunity with Coca-Cola, where he joined the company’s marketing team. These experiences sharpened his communication skills, strengthened his strategic thinking, and deepened his understanding of people — lessons that would later prove invaluable in the courtroom.
Matt later worked at his family’s bonding company, where he spent day after day helping individuals and families during some of the most stressful moments of their lives. He saw fear, uncertainty, and confusion up close. More importantly, he saw how much it mattered to have someone knowledgeable, steady, and genuinely committed standing beside you.
That experience didn’t just influence him — it called him.
Matt chose to pursue law not because of family history, but because he wanted to advocate for people navigating the legal system at their most vulnerable. Today, he has spent 18 years as a criminal defense attorney, bringing together everything he learned from probation work, business, marketing, and the bonding industry to provide representation that is practical, thoughtful, and relentless when it needs to be.
At Tucker & Associates Law Firm LLC, Matt doesn’t see clients as case numbers. He sees people who need answers, guidance, and someone willing to stand with them when the stakes are high. That’s the kind of attorney he strives to be — and the kind of firm he’s built.
