I highly recommend the services of Judith Cowan. She was my divorce attorney in 2008. She's extremely smart, tenacious, hard-working and compassionate. Her competence instills calm and confidence and she' a fiery, brilliant litigator when it counts. My divorce happened during the stock market crash of '08. I was laid off as a result. In a tough spot, I needed to choose my expenditures wisely. She was worth 5x the money I spent on her services. I owe Judith a debt of gratitude. Hire Judith.

In 2010 Judith mediated my divorce agreement, she was very knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the process and ramifications in the long run. The final agreement was not perfect, but it provided enough structure, for the past 12 years it has continuously guided us as we raised our kid. She was fair, and left both of us feeling good about the agreement. It has stood the test of time, and I am grateful.

Working with her was a nightmare experience. Cost was 3x the original estimate for mediation without any major or new issues arising. She is experienced yes but drives up the bill unnecessarily.

This review is for Merril Chin & her secretary attorney. The other names on here I think have moved on rightfully so. Unpleasant to work with where I had to remind them who is the client. I was looking for a qualified competent partner to guide my divorce and I received two unpleasant people who shouldn't promote woman owned and operated as a selling point since that implies positive traits. Questionable legal knowledge after being in business so many years. Focus on getting paid over representing me. Avoid.

AVOID AT ALL COST!! A disgusting excuse for a human. Be prepared for her to go around town speaking your private client details to the public. Horribly unprofessional and straight up rude. A disgrace to law!

At the consultation, she appears capable. After the agreement is signed, this ends. Documents are lost, conversation notes forgotten and to reconstruct, you are billed a 2nd or 3rd time. Court dates are pushed forward bec she is enjoying herself on vacation but you are living with the realities of the unresolved issues. When she doesn't understand something, she becomes hostile & aggressive. Personal insults are used & you are expected to pay your bill without seeing the itemization. Nightmare!

Buyer beware. It has been over a year since I used her services. I still feel compelled to warn other not to hire her so I am taking the time to write this. She was unable to remain unbiased. She drilled down into things we both agreed were off the table. I felt it was done to drive up the bill in some instances if was $1000s. And in the end they were off the table just like we said. If you use her do not email. It will only cost your more. If you are male go elsewhere.
