He was really good at returning calls to let us know he was working on assisting us.
We hired Counts to respond to a single demand letter. He billed us over $6,000 for that letter. We were also charged for time spent fixing his own missed deadlines — including calls we made just to ask if he’d followed through. He drafted a negotiation letter we never asked for, and then billed us again to revise it. He advertised a free consultation but began billing after 30 minutes without notice. That felt deceptive. We fired him and filed a Bar complaint. The Bar found no misconduct due to his fine print, but did agree we didn’t have to pay his final invoice — which we took as partial acknowledgment of the billing issues. Our new attorney litigated and won the case for less than Counts charged for just that one letter. For us, this was a very unprofessional experience with poor representation. We wouldn’t recommend this firm for business matters.
