About Kenneth J. Cahill

Since 1991, Ken Cahill has been practicing family law, working toward outcomes that are in the best interest of families and children. Ken is a noted speaker on issues of family law and serves as chair of the Family Law Committee. Protecting dependent, neglected and abused children was the role of Family Law attorney Kenneth J. Cahill at the Lake County Prosecutor’s Juvenile Division representing the Lake County Department of Jobs & Family Services. Practicing Family Law since 1991, Ken started first as an Assistant Lake County Prosecutor enforcing and modifying child support orders before joining the Lake County Prosecutors Juvenile Division. Ken has also prosecuted criminal cases against juvenile offenders. In 1993, he commenced his private practice primarily focusing on Family Law before joining Dworken & Bernstein in 2000.

Ken Cahill has frequently lectured on several topics related to divorce and family law matters including legislative developments involving family law, marital & separate property issues, and child custody matters. He is frequently appointed by trial courts to serve as Guardian Ad Litem to represent the best interests of children.

Kenny made the entire process very simple. He was great at getting to the point and telling me exactly what was needed. No excuses attitude and only accepting of relevant fact. My type of person. My ending verdict and outcome was more than I asked for and couldn’t be happier with the results. Additionally, Kristy Keeper's constant support, availability and knowledge of my case was invaluable. Kenny lied to my face on multiple occasions. He was only interested in his own paycheck. Kenny also made veiled racist statements throughout our interaction. I cannot in good faith recommend his services to anyone.

At initial consult, Ken seemed to know the rules and players of Lake County family court very well. He was articulate and appeared studious in listening and trying to understand what was important to me. I hired him and paid a large retainer for what should have been a simple divorce. Over the course of negotiating, I stuck with what was important relating to the custody and support of my children. Opposing counsel was extremely aggressive and Ken became less and less responsive. After he claimed he would be filing paperwork with the court leading up to what was to be a final decree, he did not reply for an extended period of time. When I arrived at court to sign the documents, I found that the documents that Ken had drafted had been replaced in whole by documents drafted by opposing counsel. I was given a brief time to review before the hearing and missed numerous material changes from what had been previously agreed to, reducing my rights and increasing my costs. Ken did a bad job
