If you are after a settlement, Nicole is a five star lawyer. Her negotiation skills really shined in getting me a settlement in my original divorce, even though some very crazy procedural issues occurred that almost ruined everything. That was more about my ex than Nicole though, and I find myself in court again 2 years later for modification with a different lawyer. The only reason I'm with someone else, is I don't think Nicole is as blunt as my new lawyer when preparing for trial. I know much more through the new lawyer about what the court actually cares about and what they don't, and I have a much clearer picture of what procedural games are being played and what we can do about it. Nicole in the end turned out to be very knowledgable, but there were times I was lost as to what was going on. I don't feel like she communicated as well, and in a trial lawyer that communication becomes more important, so she's not quite five stars for trial.

Fake compassion. Nicole Barrett and her law firm rate me over the coals. Her paralegal changed three times in a 3-month time span and I was greatly underserved. I was charged an obscene amount of money for every email or phone call. The worst part was one month before my hearing when she demanded another $2,500. I told her I was desperately working on getting the money together however after 5 days She threatened to withdraw as my council and refused to even discuss payment plan options. Luckily I was able to secure a compassionate lawyer 3 weeks before my hearing. And I only paid him a 10th of what I paid her.
