About Richard W. Morefield, Jr.

For over 30 years, Rick has guided his clients through all phases of litigation including trials, mediation, and appeals. He practices primarily in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, and business litigation.

First and foremost, Rick Morefield is a trial lawyer. For the past 30 years, he has handled lawsuits ranging from multi-million dollar business disputes to relatively simple auto accident cases. During that time, he has helped his clients obtain justice in cases involving breach of contract, fraud, breach of partnership agreement, wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, motorcycle accidents, trucking accidents, personal injury and premises liability. Rick has achieved success in settlement, mediation, trial and appeal. While national statistics show that most cases settle, it is important to hire an attorney who enjoys the courtroom. Rick is a lawyer who thrives in the courtroom environment. Rick has taught other attorneys at local and national continuing legal education seminars on topics ranging from insurance law to trial techniques and tactics. In 2019, he will serve on the faculty of the TIPS/ABOTA National Trial Academy where he and other experienced trial lawyers will teach less experienced lawyers how to succeed in the courtroom. He recently finished a term as the Chair of the 2000 member Litigation and Trial Practice Committee of the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. He is a trained mediator and serves on the approved mediator list for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri.

In His Own Words

I have two primary goals when representing my clients. First, I strive to help my clients get justice. Whether the case involves a business dispute or a personal injury, justice includes protecting or restoring my clients’ financial interests. But, justice is much more than that. Justice includes restoring relationships and protecting others from danger. My second goal is to help my clients recover in other ways as they go through the legal process. Clients who have suffered a personal injury need to recover their health, they need guidance and advice through sometimes complicated legal proceedings, and they need to regain as much of their former life as possible. I also enjoy helping my clients navigate the complexities of the legal system. A good lawyer serves as a guide, a confidant and a trusted adviser during difficult times. Litigation is inherently stressful and I strive to minimize that stress for our clients.

I was nervous about hiring a lawyer as I have never done anything like that, but this law firm made everything so easy. They were incredibly responsive and patient with all my questions and follow-ups. They were immensely helpful at putting my mind at ease. I would absolutely recommend hiring them and would use them again in the future if needed.

I would like to state that if you need a lawyer Rick Morefield is the way to go. He worked with my family in the loss of my daughter. He was so compassionate and understanding and such a very hard worker. Our case lasted over 7 years due to covid and he did not once give up on us even though he was not getting paid for all of the work that he was putting in for us. He came up with all kinds of strategies to win our case. He was very good at explaining our case and took whatever time needed to make sure that we understood what was going on and what he was doing to win our case. He was very easy to get in touch with and will call you back quickly, I will not hesitate to use him again if needed.

There is so much that I can say about Rick and his team but nothing would express my gratitude level towards them. Rick is so caring and intelligent. He puts everything he has towards helping get the best outcome for his clients. He doesnt look at what is best for him at all, he purely cares for his clients. He was with me from day one in the hospital, he kept in touch with me throughout the entire case and it was not a 30 day situation. It took me 2 years due to the level of my injuries and having to end my medical care so we could see just how much I could gain back after my car accident. He was there for me when I needed to cry, when I needed to yell and everything in between. He was my voice of reason and knowing that my cases are over now I am more heartbroken just knowing that I will not have that constant contact as I have grown so fond of him. I know we will keep in touch because he is such a caring person. Watching him work during mediation, come up with scenarios and charts t

With this being the second time using Rick as my attorney, I can confidently say that he and his team are wonderful to work with from start to finish. They were extremely professional and polite and answered every question and/or concern I had (and I had a lot) promptly, while putting in the time and effort to ensure that I understood the process step by step. Rick is trustworthy, honest and very knowledgeable which made me feel confident in his ability to resolve my case. He was able to get me an excellent outcome while also honoring my desire to avoid having to appear in trial. I can honestly say that I recommend Rick to every family member or friend that is looking for legal help and will continue to do so. Thank you, Rick!!

I am beyond impressed with the service I was offered by Rick Morefield! He is an excellent lawyer, has a charismatic personality, and has actually become someone that I can trust. That seems like a load for a lawyer but it's true! Thank you so much for being absolutely supportive during this stressful journey. There were many times that I wanted to drop the case but every time I would consult with you, my mind would be at ease knowing that I was taken care of. I am forever grateful.
