Brent earned his first degree from Kansas State University in 1999 as a pre-medicine major and later obtained his law degree from the University of Kansas in 2005. Before pursuing a legal career, he worked as a science teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District, before ultimately discovering his passion for law. Brent’s professional experience includes serving as a nursing home administrator, where he dedicated thousands of hours to supporting seniors with legal and personal challenges, including those affected by Alzheimer’s. His hands-on work provided him with a deep understanding of the elderly and their needs. During his tenure, Brent led his teams to achieve excellent survey results and was twice recognized by Family Councils for his commitment to resident care.
Brent married Beth in 2000, and together they have five children. As a family, they enjoy playing soccer, reading, memorizing scripture, singing hymns, and engaging in board games. Beth transitioned from her career as a physical therapist to home education for their children, creating opportunities for travel and unique learning experiences. Brent’s connection to Guatemala, where he traveled extensively during the adoption of their eldest child, continues to inspire the family’s future travel plans.
