About Alan C. Sheppard, Jr.

Alan C. Sheppard, Jr. focuses his practice on commercial real estate development, leasing, and finance, with a particular emphasis on industrial facilities, large-scale distribution centers, office properties, and mixed-use developments. He also advises clients on energy, infrastructure, and data center transactions.

Drawing on his LL.M. in Taxation, Alan provides strategic counsel on the tax and structuring considerations associated with real estate investments and financing transactions. His practice includes mortgage and construction financing, lease financing, mezzanine lending, asset-based finance, and working capital loan transactions. He also advises clients on complex title disputes and mineral reservation issues.

He routinely counsels Florida-based developers in the acquisition, development, entitlement, sale, and financing of commercial real estate and large land tracts for retail shopping centers, multifamily developments, automotive sales centers, and hotels. He also advises out-of-state and foreign investors on Florida law matters and has represented both Fortune 100 and family-owned businesses in asset portfolio transactions. In addition, Alan conducts land use and entitlement due diligence for development and energy projects.

Alan is a lifetime member of the NAIOP Research Foundation Board of Governors, an organization that supports research into national and international trends and changing social dynamics that drive industrial, office, and mixed-use development. He serves on the Board of Directors of NAIOP Central Florida and is a past president of NAIOP of Florida. Through his leadership within the organization, Alan actively advocates for the commercial development community locally and before policymakers in Washington, D.C. and Tallahassee.
