About Michael Petro

For more than 25 years, Michael Petro has practiced primarily in the area of criminal law and personal injury. Throughout his career, Mike has handled thousands of criminal cases and has tried hundreds of criminal jury trials. He has also tried approximately twenty personal injury jury trials to verdict. He has an AV peer review rating with Martindale Hubble and was selected as a member of the Utah Legal Elite in Criminal Law by Utah Business Magazine for the years 2004, 2005 and 2007 thru 2010. He is a member of both the Utah and National Associations for Justice and the National College for DUI Defense. He served as a visiting criminal and constitutional law professor in 2006 and 2007 for the Leavitt Institute for International Development in Kiev, Ukraine. He is a member of the board of directors for the Utah County Public Defenders’ Office and has served on the Utah State Judicial Nominating Committee. Mike earned a B.S. degree from the University of Utah and his J.D. degree from Pepperdine University. He currently resides in Springville, Utah with his wife and children.

Years ago I asked Mr Petro to come in on a situation that I may have been able to handle myself but felt better with him beside me. Because of that, he charged me a very reasonable rate. More recently I was in a motorcycle accident in which another motorcyclist who was WAY out of control hit me from behind at speeds well over 100mph... probably closer to 140mph as I was exiting the highway. I called mike from the hospital in desperate need of an attorney who recognized that I was given a citation that was out of line and could have potentially been a problem with the insurance companies and their willingness to pay out in the way that they needed to. Mike did something that I will never forget and I will forever be indebted to him for. He took the case pro bono. My savings were depleted at that point and to top it off, he put me in touch with a personal injury attorney who has similarly taken care of me. There is no better attorney out there. He is the only person I trust with my life.
