The firm traces it roots back to the solo practice established by Tom Cooper in 1974. From 1986 to 1998, when it adopted its present name, the firm was known as Cooper, Margolin & Biatch. Hired Attorney Sanford H. Margolin

In today's world, dueling is done with words instead of firearms and swords, though force is still implied. The words are woven into complex and cunning patterns called laws and regulations, so that only select humans can understand them. How can ordinary persons employ those instruments and defend themselves from inappropriate use of them? (Option 1): Spend years in law school learning the rules. (Option 2): If it's urgent, employ a good (virtual) gladiator. I did. I highly recommend Sanford Margolin. He is thorough, honest (even if he's telling you something you prefer not to hear) and trustworthy. His time is costly, because he chose the more expensive Option 1. He's completely worth it, but expect a gladiator, not a nanny: it's best to stow your emotions until the battle is decided. If you can't manage that, and you need some balm and band-aids, his staff is friendly and will supply some aid and comfort, and a virtual lollipop or two.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
