Jeff Swartz, a Virginia Beach native, has been practicing law in the Hampton Roads area since earning his law degree in 1987. With extensive experience in both criminal and civil cases, Jeff has appeared in Federal Court and all local state courts. As a former prosecutor in the Commonwealth Attorney’s office, he handled a wide range of criminal cases, including drug offenses, violent crimes such as murder, robbery, and sexual assault, as well as property crimes. Since transitioning to private practice in 1997, Jeff has focused on criminal defense, passionately advocating for his clients’ rights. He believes this is a pivotal time for reform in the criminal justice system and is dedicated to protecting individuals from wrongful accusations and convictions. Jeff’s commitment stems from his understanding of the government’s power to impact lives profoundly, and he uses his extensive experience to defend his clients vigorously.
A graduate of Virginia Tech, where he served as student government president and helped establish the university’s first student legal services office, Jeff went on to earn his law degree from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at William & Mary. Recognized for his excellence, Jeff holds an A.V. rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Legal Elite attorney by Virginia Business magazine and a Top Lawyer by Coastal Virginia magazine.
