In 2019 my husband received a credit card bill from Citibank for $18,000. The problem is that we NEVER had a Citibank card. We went to Citibank and told them we never opened a Citibank credit card. All they did was send another bill a few months later for $23,000 this time because of “nonpayment” and “late fees.” Why would we pay for a credit card that wasn’t ours?? Citibank then sent the bill to a collections agency who sued us in court for the $23,000. We are immigrants who have worked very hard over 30 years in the US. We are retired and live on social security. We always paid all our credit cards on time and in full. How is it possible for someone to open a credit card under my husband’s name without us knowing and charge so much money and Citibank just doesn’t care at all? Thank you to Mr. Keller and everyone at the law firm for fighting for us and proving this was credit card fraud. They resolved this case very quickly and had the case dismissed.
