The firm was founded in 2013 by Dawn M. Cardi and Chad L. Edgar. The firm was formed after a successful association of its founders for over seven years under the predecessor firm Dawn M. Cardi & Associates. Cardi & Edgar continues the tradition of providing expert legal counsel using an informed, strategic and holistic approach designed to reach the best resolution possible for corporate and individual clients.

The Firm provides a full range of legal services to individuals, families and businesses in New York City and surrounding areas.

Taken together, the Firm's principals have nearly 50 years of experience in the practice of law. Ms. Cardi has considerable experience as a matrimonial and family lawyer, state and federal criminal defense attorney, and civil litigator. Given the range of her background, Ms. Cardi provides clients with a unique combination of negotiation and litigation experience. Mr. Edgar's experience as a civil litigator in a large firm and as a criminal defense attorney at several smaller firms ensures that his clients receive sophisticated counsel, which is then tailored to individual needs and circumstances.

Dawn is a fighter and can stand up to any firm in New York. She cares about kids and gets things done. Her billing is also fair.

Used Dawn Cardi for basic family related legal documents. We agreed upon a exact fee for her services. Her billing was way beyond what we agreed to from the beginning. She did not do any additional work besides what we planned and discussed. When I discussed the billing she blamed her 'secretary'. She still only adjusted the billing partially. Had to finally complain that I would escalate the overcharging to the State and she immediately adjusted the bill as we originally agreed.

The Most Devastating Legal Experience of My Life I hired Cardi & Edgar LLP (Dawn Cardi) after surviving brutal domestic violence. My ex broke my face, nearly killed me, then moved out of state and later flew back to New York solely to file a retaliatory order of protection to silence me. I told the firm I wanted the case handled correctly and efficiently and had no interest in pouring endless money into fees. They promised a quick one-and-done matter for a $5,000 retainer. Instead, the judge’s bias was blatant and later confirmed by the court, yet they stayed silent. My abuser filed false police reports and they did nothing while I cried in fear of arrest and wrote my own affidavits. They allowed invasive subpoenas into my private messages, drained my retainer, and then pursued about $70,000 for work they barely did. Their negligence destroyed my case, my civil claim, and years of my life. They abandoned me when I was most vulnerable. Avoid this firm completely.
