Howard, Stallings, From, Atkins, Angell & Davis, P.A.commenced its practice in Raleigh in 1983 with Cader Howard (a respected business lawyer and litigator), Allan From (a tax law and estate planning expert) and Joe Stallings, (a former Wall Street attorney with a practice in complex commercial and litigation matters) together with Beth Atkins (a talented transactional and business attorney) were at the same time developing a similar practice in New Bern. In 1987 the two practices merged with Joe joining the Raleigh office and Beth directing the practice in New Bern.

As the Firm's client base expanded, we also expanded the number of its principals to meet the varied and growing needs of those clients. Jim Angell (a CPA, board certified business bankruptcy specialist and panel bankruptcy trustee), Joan Davis (who handles complex business litigation, real estate, land use and condemnation disputes, as well as serious injury and death claims), Brian Moore (who is a commercial and estate litigator and an administrative lawyer) have all enhanced the Firm's reputation for excellence.

Where do I start!! Rebecca had become a friend to me , not just a lawyer. I was in a very difficult situation, and she made me feel like I was her friend!! The staff at the firm were very competent, and treated me like family ,just like Rebecca did. My case was very intimidating for me, but not for Rebecca. I was in uncharted territory, did not know the unknown, her knowledge, and compassion was all I needed!! Thank you all for catering about me and my troubles!!

I was referred to Doug by another attorney and it was one of the best referrals I've ever had, For starters, I was in Australia and Doug was in North Carolina and that time difference made communications a bit tricky but he made himself available well after hours to talk to me and generously offered all the time we needed to thoroughly discuss what was going on and look at options. I left that initial call feeling exponentially clearer and more confident than I had after speaking to 6 other attorneys. Doug got clear on my desired outcomes and then he just went to work, largely behind the scenes. He took initiative, he was positively proactive, he continued to go above and beyond and, in the end, it was the best outcome possible. He was also very mindful that I was highly price-sensitive and delivered excellent value for money. He has my highest possible recommendation. The legal profession is lucky to have someone like Doug in its midst.

My Will, Power of Attorney, Health Care documents etc. were outdated in North Carolina and no longer applicable to my family situation. Ms Baugher Malone's corporate office in Raleigh recommended her to me. I specifically wanted a female lawyer much younger than me so that in case I became ill or passed away, my executor and trustee for my family trust, resident in another state, could manage my estate in NC. In the event my executor died before me, I also wanted my lawyer to step in to do what was needed if I became ill and was unable to make decisions or take actions on my own behalf with regard to myself or my family. I was and am very pleased with the advice and services provided by Ms Baugher Malone. My family situation was not straightforward. She quickly grasped what I needed, advised me on possible complications and drew up excellent paperwork. I am very confident in her judgment and ability and appreciated her kindness. I strongly recommend her services to others.

I was riding my bike on the greenway and crossed a street that crossed the greenway and fell due to a defect in the street where pipe was being laid with no warning signs and suffered a painful broken arm that required emergency surgery. After nine months of being told by a large firm in Raleigh that I had a good case, my case was dropped due to them not being sure they could win. I called the firm of Howard, Stallings, From, Atkins, Angell and Davis, P.A., and after meeting with Rebecca Huffman Ugolick she told me it would be an uphill battle but she would take my case. She has now secured a settlement to my satisfaction, and I could not be happier with her representation. I was impressed with the kindness, compassion, professionalism, and thoroughness I received from the team of Rebecca, Ann, and Martha. They did an excellent job and if I ever needed an attorney again I would not hesitate to call them.
