    Mr. Sotelo served as lead plaintiff in a groundbreaking class action lawsuit called Sotelo v. DirectRevenue, LLC, 384 F.Supp.2d 1219 (N.D. Ill. 2005), where he alleged that the defendant illegally installed “spyware” onto millions of computers. Ultimately, the Sotelo case created a legal precedent that electronic transmissions can constitute trespass under Illinois law, prompting a landmark injunctive settlement agreement. Since then, the federal case has been cited in numerous law review articles, treatises on Internet law, court cases, and newspapers, including USA Today, Legal Newsline, Newsweek, Chicago Tribune, Daily Herald, Daily Southtown, Washington Post, and New York Law Journal, among others.
