Dana M. Van Leuven, Esq. concentrates her practice on family law, representing individuals and families with skill, compassion, and unwavering advocacy. Her work spans the full spectrum of family‑related matters, including divorce, dissolution of civil unions, pre‑nuptial agreements, child custody and support, grandparent visitation, juvenile delinquency, and domestic violence. She understands that family law disputes carry profound emotional and financial consequences, and she approaches every case with a balance of empathy and strength to help clients move forward with confidence.
In addition to her family law practice, Ms. Van Leuven regularly appears in municipal courts throughout North and Central New Jersey. She represents clients facing traffic offenses, DUI charges, and disorderly persons offenses, providing clear guidance and assertive advocacy in matters that can significantly impact daily life.
Ms. Van Leuven is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Bergen County Bar Association, and the Morris County Bar Association. She has served as a Trustee on the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Board of Trustees and previously chaired the Association’s Young Lawyers Division. From 2016 through 2021, she was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, an honor awarded to no more than 2.5% of attorneys in New Jersey.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Ms. Van Leuven earned her Bachelor of Arts in 2003 with a double major in American Studies and Sociology and was recognized as a Rutgers Outstanding Scholar. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2007, where she served on the Moot Court Board and focused her studies on family law. Through Hofstra’s Child Advocacy Clinic, she represented abused and neglected children in Nassau and Queens Counties—work that earned her the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Award for Excellence in Family Law.
Following law school, Ms. Van Leuven served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Ronald Lee Reisner, J.S.C., in the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth County. She then entered private practice, where she spent a decade representing clients in a wide range of family law matters.
Ms. Van Leuven later dedicated several years to advancing attorney education as Director of Continuing Legal Education at the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, a division of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She joined the firm in May 2026, returning to her passion for directly assisting individuals and families navigating complex family law challenges.
