I had an appalling customer service experience working with Kevin Courtney over the last eight months to settle my dad’s estate. I chose him only because my dad had used his firm to update estate planning documents. I deeply regret my decision as, through Mr. Courtney’s negligence and awful communication, he made this already difficult process even MORE stressful and arduous. Mr. Courtney failed to adhere to the clearly defined terms of his engagement letter: to send me monthly statements. Therefore I was unpleasantly surprised to get a bill at the end for nearly double the original cost estimate. He also ignored my explicit request to get an account statement a month earlier. As trustee, I needed this information so I could properly maintain a cash reserve for unexpected expenses. Furthermore, he KNEW I was gathering information on outstanding debts and still did not mention his outstanding bill. When I asked Mr. Courtney why he did the above, he stonewalled and dodged the question.
