Working with Katie Steinwinder was wonderful. Divorce is hard and there are certainly a lot of unknowns. Katie has a calm and very professional approach, but also stands up and fights! She is extremely knowledgeable, gives the facts as they are and will be very straight forward with you. She is strong and honest. She is busy and and at times I would worry, but she was always working behind the scenes on my case (often times late in the evening or very early in the morning and on weekends) and and made me feel at ease during the most stressful of times. I would recommended her over and over again!
Working with Katie at this firm was a great experience for the horrible situation we had going on. She knew exactly what to do and when to do it. She calmed me and assured me that we would get through this. I have complete faith in her. Lawyers are busy and she balances it all so well and to me if an attorney is BUSY - it's a good sign, that they are GOOD!!
My attorney, Jamie, was very knowledgeable when it came to all the documents and all the lingo they came with being an attorney so that way it was easier for me to understand what the paperwork man with documents mitt and what I could and couldn’t do during the separation. She was very compassionate to me during the separation and the process of going through the divorce which made it easier for me to trust and rely on her to understand my wishes in the divorce. she is very strong-willed which made the whole process a lot easier for her to get all the information that she needed and comforted me because she was so good at her job. She was very good at communicating with me if she needed anything for me and if she was communicating with the other party.
It is refreshing to find legal counsel that really cares for their clients. Jamie worked my case like the outcome would affect her as much as me. She was a blessing to find to help me through the difficulties faced.
I would recommend Steinwinder & Ratliff's services to anyone. They have helped me tremendously with my legal needs. I have always been able to get in contact with them when I needed and have always been satisfied with the work they have done. This firm has a very personal, involved approach towards their clients, which is hard to come by in today's world. I truly feel like and know they care about me, not just the job they are performing.
Katie and Jamie were totally committed to listening/understanding every nuance of my case. They gave realistic opinions about the good and bad things that could happen. I have no doubt about their commitment to securing the best interest of my family. I highly recommend them. They never busted a suspense, but I rated them a 4 for responsiveness because their court schedule did not always allow for same day or even next day contact. Rating them a 5 could lead to unrealistic expectations.
I used Katie for a Child Support custody battle with a cheating ex-wife.
Problems
1. She adjusted the court case date without even telling me. Pushed it months later.
2. Papers state I have 30 days to give my ex-wife any bills or she does not have to pay them, and there is no deadline for payment of bills .
(Ex-wife's lawyer laughed at me and my daughter in his office and said I should have gotten a better lawyer.. what a Big slap in face.. told Katie and she said she would e-mail him.
Catherine was helpful when I paid the $200 consolation fee & $2500 retainer. E-mails were hardly responded to, if at all. Phone calls were never returned. Almost 2 months after divorce should have been FINAL, I called the court house & found out she never filed the final degree for the Judge to sign & never called to check any of the times I was told she did. Conveniently, I had "used up" the entire retainer. I had to demand a statement; it was ridiculous. Filing a complaint & reporting to BBB.
