Attorney Barbara May has lived in the Monterey Peninsula nearly all of her life. A graduate of Monterey High School and Monterey College of Law, she attended Monterey Peninsula College and Sonoma State University. Before receiving her juris doctorate and admission to the California Bar in 2002, Ms. May was a legal secretary and paralegal for over 30 years in Monterey County. Before forming the Law Office of Barbara J. May, she was a partner in the firm of May & Garibay, LLP. She worked as an associate attorney at the Monterey firm of Bohnen, Rosenthal & Dusenbury, where she practiced civil litigation, family law, probate, conservatorship and estate litigation.

Amy Wicks was born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula and attended Santa Catalina School until 1997 when she left the area to attend the University of California at Berkeley. Amy graduated in 2002 from UC Berkeley with a double major in political science and rhetoric. She spent a summer in Washington D.C. interning for Congressman Sam Farr before moving to San Francisco and attending the University of San Francisco. She received her juris doctor and masters of business administration from the University of San Francisco. After receiving her license to practice law, she moved back to Monterey to work at the Law Office of Barbara J. May.

A Mature, Balanced Approach to Family Law

In the practice of family law, overly aggressive lawyers can end up hurting their clients, while attorneys who are too soft don't get results. It is possible for an attorney to be both compassionate and aggressive when necessary, and we find this balance to be effective in serving our clients' needs.

As Monterey child support attorneys and family lawyers, we can assist you with a variety of family law concerns. Contact us for help with your case.
