Mahyar Ghassemian has a very high settlement rate. Her success extends beyond the courtroom, as she has continuously received recognition for her legal and entrepreneurial accolades, including selection as one of Orange County’s top attorneys by Orange County Metro and Orange Coast magazines in 2014 and 2015.
Since 1999, Ms. Ghassemian has defended numerous National and California construction companies in a variety of lawsuits ranging from multi-million dollar complex litigation matters to much smaller cases. On the construction side, she represents architects, engineers, home builders, custom homeowners as well as companies involved in construction. As for business, her clients consist of an array of small businesses, including medical groups, dentists, accountants and other corporate entities. Her master’s degree in physics has performed an essential role in construction defect cases where an attorney has to assemble the right team of experts to opine about the defects, as well as be able to translate the experts’ complex scientific language for the clients, opposing counsel and the court.
Ms. Ghassemian’s experience in the corporate world has nurtured the business transactional and litigation practice of the firm, which ranges from corporate structuring and governance to litigation of a variety of business disputes.
She is also personal counsel to numerous Southern California Construction Companies as well as a multitude of other businesses. In this capacity, she helps her clients prevent litigation or minimize the cost of litigation through proper planning of their corporate structure, drafting the right contracts for them to use in everyday business as well as providing assistance with difficult clients, negotiations and sale or purchase of businesses.
Ms. Ghassemian started the Ghassemian Law Group in 2011, upon leaving her partnership in a well-known civil litigation firm. Since then, the Ghassemian Law Group has met with great success, developing a 10 out of 10 point rating by AVVO and receiving AVVO’s client choice award for the number of positive reviews earned.
When she is not busy cultivating her business, Ms. Ghassemian’s time is occupied by the array of high-ranking positions she holds in various professional organizations. She served as the 2015 Chairperson of the Orange County Bar Association (“OCBA”) Solo and Small Firm Section and is currently the Vice President of Peter M. Elliott Inn of Court which is part of the National American Inns of Court. She also lectures on the topics of Construction and Business law for the Orange County Bar Association, and other professional organizations.
Ms. Ghassemian is also an avid philanthropist, recognized for her volunteer work for the OCBA for the past three years. Because of her community service efforts and extensive legal accolades, she was honored as the Remarkable Women: Entrepreneur to Watch by the Orange County Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) for 2014-2015.
Ms. Ghassemian has a Masters’ degree in Physics from California State University, Long Beach and obtained her Juris Doctor degree, graduating cum laude from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California. While in law school Ms. Ghassemian was invited to the California Court of Appeal in Santa Ana where she honed her research and writing skills as an extern for Presiding Justice, David Sills.
