Madison Criminal Defense Lawyer Edward Hunt shaped the next generation of prosecutors, criminal defense lawyers and judges as an Clinical Assistant Professor and Supervising Attorney at the University of Wisconsin Law School Legal Defense Project from 1987 to 1991. He is proud to say that many of his former students have become leaders in the justice system throughout Wisconsin. Four of his former students went on to become Wisconsin Circuit Court Judges. Another became a United States Magistrate Judge in Washington, D.C. Three former students serve as Wisconsin State Public Defenders. A former student is Executive Director of the Federal Defender Service of Wisconsin. A former student is also a Trial Attorney with the Federal Defender Service of Wisconsin. And one of his former students served as President of the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Wisconsin Criminal Defense Attorney Edward Hunt was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago in a working class neighborhood called the Back of the Yards. He is one of three children born to parents who immigrated from Ireland. His mother was a nurse. His father was a plumber and saloon owner. Defying government authority runs in Hunt's DNA, his father, an unrepentant veteran of the Irish Republican Army and Republican Movement, spent five years imprisoned for his beliefs. Squaring off against the awesome power of the State and Federal Government on behalf of a client is not a job to Wisconsin Criminal Defense Attorney Hunt; this is Hunt's inspired vocation as well as a mission.
Madison Criminal Defense Lawyer Edward Hunt played rugby football for Marquette University R.F.C., Southside Irish R.F.C., Gonzaga University R.F.C., Windy City Nomads R.F.C. and Westside Harlequins R.F.C. The skills perfected on rugby football playing fields - tenacity, endurance and fortitude - have served him well in his career as a criminal defense lawyer. He completed the Chicago Marathon twice and the New York City Marathon twice. These athletic experiences provided him with the awareness that a criminal defense attorney must also have the same will, the drive and preparation to succeed found on the rugby playing field and at the finish line of a marathon.
