About Jason Douglas Kaplan

Jason D. Kaplan is an Associate with the firm’s Westport office. His practice is focused on municipal law. Jason helps municipal and private clients navigate land use proceedings, zoning appeals, foreclosures, freedom of information appeals, and other contexts where a thorough understanding of local law and government is crucial.

Jason has a J.D. from New York University and an A.B. in philosophy from Princeton University, where he won the Quin Morton Prize and was selected for the debate team. He also has a Masters in biomedical science from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. In law school, he was in the International Law Society, served as an Articles Editor for the Annual Survey of American Law, and distinguished himself in Constitutional and First Amendment law.

Before joining Berchem Moses PC, Jason worked as a per diem prosecutor. His work during law school included commercial litigation for a midtown firm specializing in construction and real estate. He also worked on zoning matters for a nonprofit, and contributed research and edits to a 2019 book on New York’s gun control law.
