I am a travel physician and was driving from NYC to Atlanta instead of flying because of the COVID-19 pandemic and sincerely didn’t see the speed limit and didn't know I was going 77/55 zone (22 mph over) past midnight. I received a reckless driving - class 1 misdemeanor which is a serious criminal offense with potential penalties of 6 DMV points, a fine of $2,400, a jail sentence of 12 months, and a license suspension of up to 6 months. I was worried because I also had my very first speeding violation 2 years ago at another state while on a travel assignment. I am glad I found Mr. Leavitt who is professional and understands where I was coming from. Mr. Leavitt got Judge Bain (Brunswick General District Court) agreed to reduce my reckless driving 77/55 misdemeanor charge to a simple speeding violation (not reckless, not a misdemeanor).
