Stay as far away from Stephen Elliot Briggs as possible. This attorney did so badly that by the end of trial I thought he was trying to lose. Completely unprepared, zero interest in defending me, struggled to come up with simple arguments, barely asked my expert witness relevant questions. Instead of using basic facts to prove I was innocent he literally implied I was guilty by asking "Have you had a long time to think about this?" Ignored everything I tried to tell him, lied about having evidence that I sent to my attorney, and then said it was my fault for ruining his brilliant plan of doing almost nothing. I legitimately never thought this would happen because any serious attorney would be embarrassed by this, but he's not a serious attorney.
Elliott Briggs is the worst attorney I've ever seen in my life. He replaced my attorney a month before trial and did nothing to prepare. He allowed the prosecutor's blatant lies to go unchallenged while he barely tried to defend me. He outright ignored every single word I told him even when I tried multiple times to tell him the prosecutor wasn't telling the truth. He lied about having evidence. He said we have a "strong case" and that it "definitely" seemed like the police were trying to frame me. Instead of using basic facts to prove I was innocent he asked questions like "Have you had a long time to think about this?" He allowed the prosecutor to say I was hallucinating which is a ridiculous lie. For his closing argument he told a brief story about a time he ran a red light. He's a liar and a fraud who never took my case seriously and then had the audacity to say it was my fault after he refused to do his job as my lawyer. Any competent attorney could have won, but he threw it away.
