About James J. Patterson

Attorney James “Jay” Patterson is a lawyer at Daniel Law Firm whose practice focuses on personal injury and workers’ compensation. He has been working as an attorney for nearly a decade, earning a name for himself as one of the most effective, hard-working, and genuinely caring attorneys in Tennessee. To him, every case is an opportunity to give his client a fresh start, and he understands how his advocacy can positively impact a client’s quality of life forever.

Jay chose to study law for a simple reason: he wanted to help people, and he knew that when people were really in trouble, they called lawyers. His sole purpose with every case is to maximize each client’s recovery, no matter what resources or how long it takes. His skill as a listener and as a sharp legal mind make him an invaluable resource to injured people everywhere.

Personal Life & Early Career

As a lifelong Memphis resident, Jay only left Memphis to get his bachelor’s degree at Millsaps College. He returned to his hometown to get a law degree from the University of Memphis, where he graduated cum laude. He was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2010 and the Mississippi Bar in 2011.

Jay is married to Julie Patterson. Together they have a son and a daughter. In his free time, Jay enjoys spending time with his family. He coaches his son’s basketball team at St. Dominic School. He has also coached mock trial at St. Agnes Academy, and served as a mentor in the MILE program at the University of Memphis, helping grow the next generation of thinkers, rhetoricians, and, of course, lawyers.
