colleagues at Armstrong Allen also joined Adams and Reese at that time and were instrumental with Cannon in opening the Memphis office. Cannon focuses his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, class and complex litigation, business and health care litigation.
He has represented clients extensively in class actions and mass torts involving products liability, pharmaceuticals, contract disputes, mortgage financing, Tennessee Trade Protections Act and anti-trust claims. He also routinely represents clients in disputes involving insurance coverage, products liability, contract claims, professional negligence and fiduciary duty claims.
Cannon has done extensive work for The Regional Medical Center at Memphis ("The Med") for the past 20 years. Cannon has defended numerous malpractice claims and helped implement risk management strategies to protect the hospital. He has worked with a team of attorneys to save the hospital millions of dollars. Although not his primary area of focus, this work has been extremely rewarding work for him because of The Med's unique importance to Memphis.
His other significant contributions include:
• Representing clients in the transportation and logistics industry. He is currently serving as President of the 63 year old Memphis World Trade Club, and has previously served as its First Vice President and as a board member. In 2010, Cannon will direct the Club's efforts to serve the strategically important transportation and logistics industries in Memphis.
• Chairing the Memphis Multi-Modal Conference, a forum for industry business leaders and government officials to network, exchange ideas and gain insight into industry trends.
• Representing clients in class claims, commercial disputes and multi-district litigation before the Sixth Circuit, various federal courts in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas and state courts in Texas, Virginia, Florida, Oklahoma, New York and Utah.
• Past Board Member and Chairman of Westminster Academy, a Classical Christian school that teaches students using the seven liberal arts to love truth, wisdom and beauty.
• Founder and past President of the 15 year old Binghampton Foundation which trains teachers and works with urban schools to improve student education.
Asked about those he admires, Cannon listed Aristotle, Moses, John the disciple, Thomas Aquinas, George Washington, Martin Luther, Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill. Admitting his list could have been longer; he felt each of these people had enormous impact for good, oftentimes in the face of tremendous hardship.
Cannon and his wife Jill have four children. In his free time, Cannon enjoys reading, gardening, water sports, hiking and camping.
