We retained Mr. Black’s services and were not happy with his work. The first red flag was that he did not provide an agreement for services when he took the retainer payment, so it wasn’t clear what we were actually paying for. Based on our initial consultation, we expected that he would file the appropriate paper with the court and follow up with the process until the court’s determination of the case; we believed that’s what the fee would cover. In our initial consultation with him, we were very clear about why we wanted to take legal action and what we hoped it would accomplish. However, once we got partway into the process, he told us that we would need to file additional lawsuit(s). He did not follow up with the court to provide them with necessary info. We finally fired him, but he didn’t even respond to that message, until we threatened to file a complaint with the state bar association. He did not provide documentation related to the case.
