About Rebecca Rea

Rebecca began her legal career at age 16 in her hometown when she became a legal assistant and clerk for two attorneys, both of whom were also local judges. Their office contained a whole room of beautifully bound legal texts, including the entire Georgia Code, which Rebecca remembers having to update whenever new supplement texts were sent to the firm. Between tasks, Rebecca would read the legal texts and ask the attorneys questions. She is fortunate to have had the training, guidance, and support (and the patience with regard to her continuous questions) of several attorneys throughout her childhood and into her own career as a lawyer.

Rebecca has a BS in Political Science from North Georgia College and State University (now the University of North Georgia), as well as a Juris Doctor from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. She has experience in several areas of law, including criminal defense, bankruptcy, residential and commercial real estate, condo and HOA law, nonprofit law, and most recently, personal injury. She is passionate about anything and everything pertaining to Constitutional Law and civil rights.

Rebecca is from Summerville, Georgia, which is a small town in the northwest corner of the state between Rome and Chattanooga. One of her first memories is watching the town’s annual Christmas parade from the huge window in the Chattooga County Courthouse. Built in 1909, the courthouse is awe-inspiring and grand, with its columns at each entrance, and its old-style marble details. Spending time in and around the courthouse with her father, Gary McConnell, who was the county sheriff for most of Rebecca’s young life, left her with a respect, reverence, and appreciation for courtrooms, the practice of law, and the history of legal matters in the State of Georgia.

Rebecca has a middle school-aged son who is the light of her life; Rebecca’s hobbies include just about anything that involves creating art, cooking, kayaking, reading, and having as much fun as possible while still being a responsible adult.
