His up front fee for a divorce is $3500. It took over a year for his office to get everything in motion and by that time he had racked up another $3500 in fees. Fees for typing up letters that his paralegal had templates to. Fees for asking him status on my case since I hadn't heard anything in months. His paralegal had someone else's info from another case on my divorce papers. He talked me into things I did not want to agree on. I do not recommend him at all.
Really? How is it that when it’s time to hire a lawyer they promise you the moon and stars, and then you pay them and they get ghost on you with all your money? That’s what D.K.Shelton will do to you if you let him! He did it to me! I wouldn’t refer my worst enemy to him. Where did he even get his license from? A crackerjack box? Whether I call or my family Mr. Kent WILL NOT answer you especially if he’s gotten your money already. I should have looked at his reviews before. ALL BAD. Go figure the only good reviews he received were from other lawyers😂 Like they need his services and then the reviews were so old and done on the same day 🤔 makes you wonder if he didn’t review his self. I do not recommend KENT SHELTON AT ALL for any legal representation unless you like bending over for a lawyer and paying him to do it.
Hiring this lawyer was a huge mistake! Mr. Shelton severely lacked basic communication skills. He seemed to have very little concern for my case and did the bare minimum when it came to representing me. But why would he when receiving all that money up front. Mr. Shelton even held onto information for over a year that could have greatly helped my case until the day before court, which required him to at least submit it 10 days before court. I would never recommend his services to anyone. I would have done better hiring my teenager, at least they would have known how to argue!
I would have to work very hard to find an attorney that I was less pleased with. Takes weeks or months for him to return phone calls or emails. The opposing attorney completely rolled over him. He charged me a retainer based on going to court, Without the facts changing, he advised me to settle. It has been 3 months since I contacted him about settling the hours and refunding the balance with no response. I would steer clear.
He reopened my case in November 2010. It is now March 2011 and I have heard from him 1 time. He does not return calls or emails.
