David L. Manz is owner of the Manz Law Firm, P.A. Born and raised in North Palm Beach, Florida, David graduated from Auburn University in 1981 with a BS in Economics and received his Juris Doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1984. David has been a member of the Alabama State Bar since 1984 and a member of the Florida Bar since 1988. He is a member of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
David founded The Manz Law Firm in Marathon in 1991. He was Board Certified by the Florida Bar in Marital and Family Law in 1993, is certified in Marital and Family Law by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and has specialized exclusively in the practice of marital and family law for over 30 years.
David is a past Chair of the Florida Bar Family Law Section (2011-2012). David received the Florida Bar Family Law Section’s “Visionary” Award” in 2018, the Alberto Romero, Jr. “Making a Difference” Award in 2023, the “Melinda Penny Gamot” Award in 2024 and the Raymond T. McNeal “ Professionalism Award” in 2025. David is a former President of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (2010-2011) and is a member of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American College of Family Trial Lawyers. David lectures regularly for the Florida Bar Family Law Section and the Florida Chapter of the AAML, is a frequent writer on family law issues, and has been integrally involved in the Florida Bar Family Law Section and AAML equitable distribution and alimony legislative agenda for the past fifteen years.
David represents private clients in complex equitable distribution dissolution of marriage cases across the state of Florida, has a substantial mediation practice as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator, devotes significant pro bono representation to parties in family law matters who could not otherwise afford counsel, and acts as a pro bono attorney for the Monroe County Guardian Ad Litem program in capital sexual battery criminal cases involving minor children. In 2017 and again in 2023, David received the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono award for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit from the Florida Supreme Court.
David’s Section and Chapter involvements include: Family Law Section Executive Council, 1996-2008; Family Law Section Secretary, 2008-2009, Treasurer 2009-2010, Chair Elect 2010-2011, Chair 2011-2012. David has been a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers from 1998 until present. He served as Secretary/ Treasurer of the Florida Chapter, 2007-2008, President Elect, 2009-2010 and President 2010-2011. David has also served as Chair of several Family Law Section Committees, chaired the Florida Bar Marital and Family Law Board Certification Committee in 2002-2003, and has been a member of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee and Judicial Nominating Commission. David is also a past Director of the Board of Directors of the Florida Bar Foundation and serves and chairs various other community organizations in South Florida. David has been married to Sally Manz since 1990 and is the proud father of three daughters, Olivia, Cassandra, and Zoe.
