Family law is my passion. My goal is to help my clients transition to their next stage of life as quickly and efficiently as possible. I am extremely successful at resolving my client's issues without the need (and additional cost) of court intervention. I am part of the Cooperative Practice Network, and I am trained to find solutions but still address your concerns. Settlement is not always an option though. If court involvement is necessary, I am ready to aggressively represent you in the courtroom. I practice exclusively in family law, which ranges from simple divorces (draft up agreements between parties), high conflict divorces, high net worth divorces, spousal maintenance, custody disputes, modifications of custody and parenting time, child support, post-decree issues, step-parent adoptions, grandparent rights, father's right, and domestic abuse. I have extensive experience dealing with one party having mental health concerns and drug/alcohol abuse. Prior to joining Capistrant Law, P.A., I practiced primarily in family law but also practiced in areas including real estate, landlord-tenant, personal injury, DWI defense, and basic estate planning. I am proudly born and raised in Brookings, South Dakota. I received my law degree from Creighton School of Law in Omaha, Nebraska and my undergraduate degree from the Minnesota State University, Mankato. In 2004, I was a law clerk for Magistrate Thomas D. Thalken at the United States District Court of Nebraska in Omaha, NE. I am actively involved in the twin cities family law community. I am a past Chair of the MSBA Family Law Section, a past Chair of the annual Family Law Institute, a member of the AFCC, Women Lawyers, Family Law League and I volunteer regularly with the Volunteer Lawyers Network.
