Consulted Attorney

I consulted with Matthew about a residential foreclosure, and I hired another attorney. His demeanor is casual and friendly, and he's knowledgeable in his field, but there were several moments throughout our discussion that were questionable, at best. He advised that I file Chapter 13 bankruptcy instead of pursuing other options. Another attorney estimated the equity in my home, factored in the homestead exception, encumbrances, etc., and recommended filing Chapter 7. Not only did I NOT have to file for bankruptcy, but the lender also waived $18,000 to avoid the delinquent property tax liens. Now I know to think twice after a consultation before basing my case on the reputation of the law firm itself.
