W. Thomas Babbitt focuses his practice on client counseling in intellectual property-related matters, particularly patent rights in technical fields including chemical, biochemical, medical, mechanical, and semiconductor arts.
Tom works closely with companies to provide services in all areas of patent law, including the preparation and prosecution of applications for patent, patent licensing, freedom to operate, and infringement litigation. Tom also takes an active role in due diligence investigations in a variety of industries concerning patent asset assessment and valuation, risk and portfolio analyses, patent infringement/validity opinions, trade secret protections, and strategies for portfolio management and development.
Tom began his legal career as a judicial clerk for Judge H. Russel Holland of the United States Federal District Court for the District of Alaska.
Prior to law school, Tom worked as a Production Engineer for Kaiser Aluminum & Chemical Corporation.
