Evan Spiegel provides legal representation in California for a variety of different issues, with his and his firm's practice encompassing Entertainment & Sports issues and business litigation in State and Federal Courts, including intellectual property, copyright and trademark litigation, media law, right of publicity and privacy law, defamation, contract disputes, business torts, and in matters before specialized tribunals such as the California Labor Commissioner proceedings. Mr. Spiegel's practice emphasizes privacy rights protection, cyber-law, celebrity and public figure online rights protection (including right of publicity and privacy protection, social media platform violations and fraud, copyright violations, cyber-exploitation protection, and Internet-domain name law), talent-side endorsement agreements, non-disclosure agreement and employer release agreements. After completing undergraduate studies at University of California at Santa Barbara (B.A. Honors, Law & Society, 1993), Evan Spiegel attended and graduated in 1998 from University of California at Los Angeles School of Law (J.D., 1998). He was admitted to the practice of law in 1998. Mr. Spiegel was recognized by his peers for his knowledge, outstanding work and legal practice, and earned the status of partner/member with Lavely & Singer in 2008.
Due to his unique specialized knowledge and skill in the area of online rights protection, Evan Spiegel was selected by (then) California Attorney General Kamala Harris to serve on the CA Attorney General's Cyber-Exploitation Roundtable & Panel (2015), and served on the AG's Cyber Exploitation Working Group, and Education & Prevention Subcommittee. Mr. Spiegel was also the Panel Organizer and Panelist for Motion Picture and Televison Fund ("MPTF") PAN's panel: "Social Media's Impact on the Entertainment Industry: A Look at Talent-Side Use and Strategies" (featuring panelists from Lavely & Singer, CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Twitter and WhoSay) (Aug. 2015).
