Joe is a Principal at Foley, Baron, Metzger & Juip. He has extensive litigation and transaction experience in commercial law, business and estate planning, and complex corporate, probate and real estate matters. He is national trial counsel for product liability defense clients in the gas fired heating industry. He advises clients for compliance with regulatory and procedural requirements in multiple areas.
Joe’s practice includes complex litigated matters such as business torts, construction litigation, product liability defense, executive employee benefits, real property disputes, tax appeals and business to business disputes. His environmental experience includes defense of mold related injury claims, lead contamination litigation and municipal sewage defect claims. His product liability experience includes defense of carbon monoxide and other injury claims.
McGill is the Clerk of the Representative Assembly for the State Bar of Michigan and a member of the State Bar’s 21st Century Practice Task Force. He serves as Emeritus Director and past President of the Catholic Lawyers Society of Detroit, President of the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers and Treasurer of the Michigan Irish American Chamber of Commerce. Joe carries Martindale Hubbell’s “AV” rating and is a 2009 Michigan Super Lawyer. In addition, he is the 2013 recipient of the Michigan Irish American Chamber of Commerce’s Business Lawyer Award. McGill has completed advanced training through the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and is a certified Medicare Set-Aside Allocation consultant.
