Introducing Stephen N. Dratch, a distinguished senior litigator at our firm, with an impressive legal career spanning since 1973. His expertise encompasses all facets of litigation, ranging from trial and chancery matters to criminal and appellate proceedings in both New Jersey and New York.
Throughout his extensive career, Mr. Dratch has garnered a wealth of experience, excelling in various areas of litigation, including commercial litigation, personal injury litigation, criminal law (trial, appellate, and post-conviction), New Jersey/New York Parole matters, and chancery litigation. His contributions as Legislative to New Jersey State Senator Martin L. Greenberg (1973-74) showcase his commitment to public service.
During his time in Law school, Mr. Dratch had the privilege of being a research assistant to the esteemed Professor, now United States Supreme Court Associate Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Mr. Dratch's legal acumen has resulted in numerous published opinions in both New Jersey and New York State and Federal courts. Notably, he has successfully handled significant personal injury cases, securing verdicts amounting to millions of dollars.
As a Criminal Justice Act ("CJA") attorney, appointed by the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, Mr. Dratch has defended defendants with dedication and skill. Additionally, he represents insurers in Fidelity/Crime insurance-related coverage and defense matters.
He earned his B.A. degree with honors in 1970 from Brooklyn College of City University of New York and received his J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law (Newark) in 1973.
In addition to being admitted to the New Jersey State Bar and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, Mr. Dratch holds admissions to the New York State Bar, the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the Northern District Court of New York, and the Western District Court of New York. He is also a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Dratch's expertise extends beyond state boundaries, as he has appeared in cases by special permission in California, Colorado, Kansas, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas, and Puerto Rico. His professional affiliations include the Essex County Bar Association, New Jersey State Bar Association, American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, New York City Bar Association, New Jersey Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Federal Bar Association.
