Mr. Schonberger's practice emphasizes real estate, commercial transactions, small business corporations, foreclosures, and community association law He served two terms (1997-2000; 2000-2003) on the Board of Governors for the Real Property Section of the Virginia State Bar, during which he served as Secretary (1999-2000), Vice-Chair (2000-2001) and Chair (2001-2002) of the board. He has written articles on real property issues for the Section's publication the Fee Simple, and lectured on real property issues for Virginia CLE, the educational division of the Virginia Law Foundation, and lectured on community association issues for the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the Community Associations Institute. He has been designated one of Virginia's "Legal Elite" on numerous occasions by Virginia Business Magazine. Mr. Schonberger has also received a peer review rating of AV from Martindale-Hubbell.

The Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings process is the gold standard due to its objectivity and comprehensiveness. Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
