About Neal Kevin Hyman

Neal Hyman was born in New York in 1970. He moved to Reno, Nevada with his family in 1977 when his father worked on the MGM Grand job as a wallpaper and painting contractor. Little did he know that Nevada would be where he called home. Neal graduated from Reno High School and the University of Nevada (UNR). While at UNR, Neal studied criminal justice, business and psychology. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity (TKE). It was at UNR when Neal knew that being a lawyer was his future. Neal attended his first year of law school back east at Quinnipiac College School of Law in Hamden, Connecticut (formerly Bridgeport School of Law). He achieved high grades and made law review. Knowing that he desired to be back west, Neal transferred with honors to California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. There he achieved high grades, made the Dean’s Honor List, was a member of the legal honor fraternity Phi Delta Phi and achieved the American Jurisprudence Award (Am. Jur.) in Federal Courts (the highest grade). Neal’s strengths were civil and criminal procedure, constitutional law, torts/personal injury, trial practice and ethics. During law school, Neal interned for two federal judges, the Honorable Phyllis Halsey Atkins and the Honorable Edward C. Reed, Jr.

After law school, Neal moved back to Reno and clerked for the Honorable Peter I. Breen, Senior District Judge for Washoe County. As a law clerk, Neal worked closely with the judge and saw many behind the scenes decisions. His first job as a lawyer was with Hardesty, Bader & Ryan in Reno (Nevada Supreme Court Justice Hardesty’s old firm). There he handled various cases, including first amendment/media law, commercial litigation and civil rights/discrimination matters. Wanting more court experience, Neal joined the District Attorney’s Office in Reno as a criminal prosecutor. There he handled various criminal cases, including DUI’s, traffic offenses, property/theft crimes, assault and battery cases and even serious felony cases like burglary, kidnapping and robbery. Neal was in court almost every day and had numerous trials. During this time, Neal served on the State Bar of Nevada’s Consumer Protection Committee and was a member of the esteemed Bruce R. Thompson Inns of Court (an organization where top lawyers are invited to discuss legal issues and make presentations). Wanting to get back into civil law, Neal took a job with Blick, Doty & Gill in San Diego, California. There he learned the in’s and outs of insurance coverage law as he represented large national and international insurance carriers when deciding insurance coverage issues.

Neal is super good at what he does and he gets and understands your case and knows exactly how to fight for you. In all the four years, I didn’t meet Neal in person until my mediation (that he successfully pushed through for, as the other side was not very cooperative in talking settlement), and even though I never met him in person - I feel like he was a friend, trust worthy and was on top of everything. Every email, every letter, every correspondence with the other side, Neal was on top of it almost same day, if not next, and always kept you up to date with every single thing. You really feel apart of your case, and not just in the background not knowing what’s next and having to guess what will happen. Neal showed he cared by being on top of everything so efficiently and promptly that you felt supported in what happened to you and having someone who will fight to make sure you get what you deserve. And he did.

Neal helped me with a long and difficult car accident case where the driver who hit me was uncooperative and untruthful. Neal was determined and hung in there for the long haul. He gave personalized service you won’t find from a quality lawyer like this. He fought hard for me like a friend and I trust him. Highly recommend

I hired Neal to help me with a contract dispute and debt collection matter. I thought this would be a relatively simple case, but it turned into a fierce legal battle. Neal was in my corner the entire time and helped me to understand the process along the way. In the end he was able to secure me with a favorable recovery.

Neal was asked by a friend of his who was a paralegal at a firm that rejected my case. She wanted to help since she had been there at the Reno events center when I had tripped and fell on the cement in due to unsafe conditions in the walk way. He was the only one who believed in me and had the courage and compassion to take on the case. He kept me informed and never gave up. He is knowledgeable of the law and he fought for me. I would recommend him to anyone who needed a lawyer with integrity and respect of the law and the courage to stand for what’s right.

Neal Hyman is an amazing lawyer that I have used on several occasions. Neal is able to sit down and listen to the issues and able to formulate a game plan for the case. Neal has been able to settle cases without ever having to go to court. That to me is worthy of a great lawyer. I practice real estate and my time is valuable and being able to settle a case without exhausting a huge amount of my time is key. When asked if I know a good lawyer, well you know that I recommended Neal Hyman. My clients that have used his service have thanked me for him resolving their cases. Finding a good and trustworthy lawyer is a challenge and let me say that you do not need to look any further as Neal Hyman is the lawyer for you.
