Ms. Rau is an experienced domestic litigator. The issues involved in divorce and custody are among the most important in our lives. It is important that you have an experienced and compassionate legal professional to help you through the legal process associated with these issues. We realize that domestic issues impact every area of your life and as a result the philosophy of Ms. Rau's domestic practice focuses on personal attention, objective and direct assessment of your case and the formulation of comprehensive legal strategy to resolve your domestic matter so that you can focus on your children and getting on with the rest of your life, after your divorce. When spouses disagree on at least one item related to their divorce, the matter is termed contested. Many matters that start out contested, end up settling or otherwise resolving prior to trial. Being prepared for a trial, while still pursuing alternate dispute resolution options, is essential to achieving a comprehensive and meaningful settlement. It is also important to be prepared in the event that your matter does not resolve through settlement and ends up before the Court. Preparing a case involves financial discovery, a process by which the parties obtain and verify fincial information concerning community assets, income and debts. If your matter also involves children, discovery is often conducted on issues that impact the children and the eventual custodial arrnagment desired by the litigants. Trial preparation also includes brief, legal research and the application of the rules of evidence to the facts of each individual case. Ms. Rau is an experienced domestic trial attorney and oral advocate.

Lawyers solicited for peer reviews include both those selected by the attorney being reviewed and lawyers independently selected by Martindale-Hubbell. All reviewers are verified as attorneys through Martindale-Hubbell’s extensive attorney database. Only attorneys practicing at least three years and receiving a sufficient number of reviews from non-affiliated attorneys are eligible to receive a Rating.

What are the different Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings?*

• AV Preeminent®: The highest peer rating standard. This rating signifies that a large number of the lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence for their legal knowledge, communication skills and ethical standards.
