Ben was raised in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico and is fluent in Spanish. His valuable skills in speaking, writing, and reading Spanish have become indispensable when communicating with the firm's Spanish-speaking clients. He received his B.A. from New Mexico State University in 2008 and his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Mexico in 2012, where he was named to the Dean's List. He was admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico in September 2012. Ben's practice has developed primarily in the governmental, insurance, and civil rights arenas. Ben has litigated seven trials which include successfully defending municipalities in civil rights cases. He has also represented several public schools in Southern New Mexico in lawsuits involving employment discrimination claims as well as claims under the New Mexico Tort Claims Act.In addition to litigation, Ben also advises various governmental entities, including the Village of Williamsburg, the City of Sunland Park, the Town of Hurley, Hidalgo County, the Mesilla Valley Public Housing Authority, the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority, and the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley. The areas of advice are varied and include the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), the Procurement Code, the Open Meetings Act (OMA), the New Mexico Human Rights Act (NMHRA), the Joint Powers Agreement Act, employment law, administrative law, municipal law, and animal law. He gave a presentation to the New Mexico Dispatchers regarding legal issues that are routinely faced by emergency dispatchers.
