Beyond the inspirational Atticus Finch character, Julie’s real interest in the law took root in college. Following her cum laude graduation from Miami University with a Political Science degree, Julie returned to her native Virginia and worked as a products liability litigation paralegal for a major defense firm in Richmond Virginia. That experience confirmed her interest in the law and she went on to law school at the University of Richmond where she finished in the top 3% of her class and with cum laude honors. In a leap of faith and with no prior military background, she served on active duty as a U.S. Army Judge Advocate for eight years and gained invaluable experience—trying cases as a criminal prosecutor and later criminal defense counsel and jumping out of “perfectly good airplanes” as a paratrooper during her five year stint at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
After leaving the Army, she migrated to the Sarasota/Bradenton area and went into the private practice of law. It was during those days that she had the good fortune to first work Attorney Christina Goldberg, practicing injury law and Personal Injury Protection. Her reunion with Christina means that she is also once again handling PIP/No Fault insurance law on behalf of doctors and health care providers.
Julie is licensed to practice in all Florida courts, a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association, the Florida Justice Association and a volunteer trustee at The Out-of-Door Academy. Outside of work, Julie enjoys reading, exercise and spending time with her son and daughter.
