Reviews for James Tomlinson
Have you consulted or hired this lawyer?
Leave a review about your experience with this lawyer.Bait and switch tactics - offering to go above and beyond to assist in your case, but when the rubber meets the road and you expect the services he offered, he is no where to be found and clearly shows no regard for finding you resolution in your case. Even after agreeing to reimburse me for the services he failed to provide he didn’t follow through with his obligation, nor respond when I reached out to him. Do yourself a favor and take heed to this warning - find a lawyer who actually cares. Someone who will put in real work to assist you in your time of need and not just take your money and leave you high and dry.
I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring Mr. Watson. In my experience, communication was extremely poor. It often took weeks to receive a response, and when I did, I was given explanations that I found inconsistent and difficult to reconcile. I also received documents that contained errors and appeared not to have been carefully reviewed. What concerned me most was the billing. After paying a $3,000 retainer, I was later presented with charges for work that allegedly occurred months before I paid the retainer and before I believed an attorney-client relationship had been established. At no point during that period was I advised that billable time was accruing. As a client, I expected professionalism, transparency, and timely communication. Unfortunately, my experience fell far short of those expectations. Based on my personal experience, I would not hire Mr. Watson again and cannot recommend his services to others.
I’d recommend softening the accusations a bit, especially words like “thief,” “broke,” and claiming criminal conduct as fact. A more factual review will usually carry more credibility and reduce legal risk while still being very strong. The reviews you see are consistent with my experience. Had I seen them beforehand, I would not have hired Mr. Watson. I found the experience to be extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I ultimately had to file for arbitration regarding the fees charged and also submitted a complaint to the Florida Bar concerning his conduct and handling of my case. Both matters are currently pending review. From my personal experience, I would strongly encourage others to do their research carefully before retaining this attorney.

I would give Mr Watson a 0/5 if that was possible. My father paid Mr Watson $5k to retain him for a custody case for my nephew after my sister passed away. Mr Watson took the money and wouldn't return my father's calls, emails, or texts. He did absolutely nothing for the case. Please never use this man. He is completely unprofessional and a thief. Be advised!
