Barry A. Ross, Esq. is a law firm established in 1973 with an office in Laguna Hills, CA practicing real estate, real estate litigation, homeowners association law and 39 other areas of law.
While my matter is not yet complete, I've found Barry to be articulate and knowledgeable about the law. He's been responsive to my voice and email requests. And he's performed thus far precisely as promised.
Mr. Ross talked a great fight until he got our retainer check. Then he wasted time and money on petty things that did not further our case. We hired him for his professed experience and ability in our area of need, but he never showed a morsel of competence. Furthermore he was not a man of integrity in any way, least of all in his billing.
During initial consultation, Mr Ross claimed he worked closely with an expert architect who turned out to have retired several years ago! He searched long to find another architect who did a site visit but wouldn't return his calls. He showed up 2 hours late to the mediation and kept the Judge and every one else waiting. He hadn't researched the case and decided in just 10 minutes into the mediation that we don't have a case. He billed for research after the mediation!! Wasted $20,000+
I saw him for a consultation to decide if he should handle my case. He took notes and deviated from providing a strategy to resolve the issue. Paid him for the consultation however, would refrain from having him represent me on a legal matter. Moreover, on few of his responses, I noticed he is attempting for the potential client retain him rather than try to explain if there would be a benefit to the client to retain him.
Barry prepared a 3 page letter to my HOA that contained over a dozen typos including failing to correctly cite the law. Barry never apologized or took ownership for his errors. Barry falsely stated to opposing counsel that I agreed to the mediator they suggested; that is when I fired him. Even more shocking is Barry's billing practices. He charged me for the letter in which he falsely claimed I agreed to the suggested mediator and he charged me for revising the errors I found in the HOA ltr.
He is a cheat and a liar. That is what you need to know.
All of the Peer Reviews on this site, for Mr. Ross, were done in a two week period, and likely by Mr. Ross himself. Be wary of this person, not able to refer to him as a man, for he is not a man.
