He is the founder of the Kansas City Estate Planning Symposium and as such, the Award for Excellence in Estate Planning was named in his honor. He was the founder of the National Association for Family Business and is also a member of the Estate Planning Society of Kansas City, the IRS Regional Advisory Council on Exempt Plans and Exempt Organizations, the Board of the Small Business Council of America, and The Group.

    Mr. Sildon has lectured at Continuing Legal Education symposia across the country, including the Notre Dame, Duke, William and Mary, Southern Federal, University of Wisconsin, Midwest, and Great Plains tax conferences. He is a co-author of Missouri Bar Association books on closely held corporations, estate planning for the family owned business, and family business planning. He co-authored A Practical Guide to Buy-Sell Agreements, published by ALI-ABA, and his article on dealing with divorce in the family business was published in the July 2006 issue of Estate Planning magazine. He won the Willamette Management Associates 2007 Standard of Excellence Award for his article, "Success in Business Ownership Succession Planning," published in Insights magazine.

    In addition to his wide-ranging professional interests, Mr. Sildon has been on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Symphony, the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Kansas City Consensus, and the Business Committee for the Arts. He has been a member of the Ethics Commission of Jackson County, Missouri, and was President of Downtown Kansas City's Rotary Club 13 in 2008-09. He is a 2009 graduate of the FBI Kansas City Citizens' Academy.

    Myron Sildon was also awarded a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School - University of Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan. A native Kansas Citian, he is married and has two grown children.

    The Kansas City Estate Planning Symposium, which presents awards each year for excellence in estate planning, has named its first-place honor The Myron E. Sildon Excellence In Tax-Related Estate Planning Award. Mr. Sildon founded the Symposium, which, each spring, draws experts in tax and estate planning issues from across the country to speak in the Kansas City area. The Symposium's Estate Planning Prize Endowment presents the Sildon Award annually.
